How to use this sitemap
This page is a plain index of the site. Start with the category closest to your project, open the guide that matches the job, and read the key facts box before the full article. The box gives the short version: typical cost, the main trade-off and the one check that matters most.
If you already know what you need, the search box in the header indexes every page listed here. The same list is published as an XML sitemap for search engines, and the sitemap.xml file is linked from our robots.txt. Neither file is needed by a human reader, but both help a crawler find new work quickly.
Start with the right section
Home improvement is for work that changes how the building performs: a kitchen, a bathroom, insulation, a roof, a window or a repair that has been postponed for too long. Real estate deals with the money and the checks around a purchase or a sale. Interiors covers the choices you can see and touch: layout, materials, light and furniture.
Contractors is the section to read before you hire anyone, especially if a quote is vague or a deposit is being requested before the scope is settled. DIY tools covers the kit worth owning and the point at which a job stops being a weekend project. Each section has two current guides and a category page that pulls them together.
If you are unsure where to begin, the home page features the most useful guide of the month and explains what we cover. The about page explains who writes the guides and how we test the claims inside them.

Keeping the index current
We publish new guides every month and update older ones when a price, a rule or a product changes. A page is never left to rot with a 2024 number in the title. Each article carries a review date, and a substantial correction gets a visible note at the foot of the page.
If a link on this sitemap is broken, or a guide is missing from the list, contact us with the URL. We fix navigation errors quickly because a sitemap is only useful if it is complete. For everything else, use the contact page and pick the closest subject.
